Board of Directors and Management Team

The CCF Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for all organizational activities.  The board consists of four Vendor Directors and four Operator Directors, and matters before the Board can be approved by a dual majority vote. The board also includes an Observer Director from the CDMA Development Group, which the CCF works with closely. The following are the current Board members, as well as additional key members of the CCF team.

Vendor Directors

THOMAS J. ERICKSON, President and CEO
Thomas J. Erickson is President and Chairman of the Board of the CDMA Certification Forum and co-chair of the CTIA Certification Program CDMA Working Group, which defines technical certification requirements for CDMA devices for the U.S. market. Mr. Erickson is also Vice President of Product Development in the Engineering Services Group at QUALCOMM where his efforts focus primarily on transferring CDMA technology to help the industry bring innovative products to market. Mr. Erickson has more than 20 years experience developing and implementing test solutions for products ranging from CDMA handsets to cryogenic launch vehicles.  He holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

JAMISON REWITZER, Chairman of the Board
Jamison Rewitzer is the Senior Manager responsible for the Wireless Interoperability Lab for Nortel.  Jamison leads a dedicated IOT team that performs integration, functionality, and protocol compliance testing on third party products connected to Nortel CDMA and GSM wireless infrastructure.  The Nortel IOT lab in Richardson, Texas performs over 150 terminal and device test sessions each year.

Jamison has 30 years of telecommunications industry experience, having worked at Nortel in the wireless, wireline, and enterprise groups in Product Line Management, Marketing and Operations roles.

MATTHEW TASOOJI
Matthew Tasooji is a Senior Marketing Manager with Nokia Mobile Phones. He has been featured extensively in many national and international seminars on wireless communication and CDMA. Previously, he was a Project Manager at GTRAN Wireless, working on 1xRTT modems. Mr. Tasooji has also served as a senior professor and chairman of the EET department at DeVry University before he joined QUALCOMM in 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Masters in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University. Mr. Tasooji serves as a lecturer in the engineering department at UCSD extension studies.

MICHAEL POLLEY
Michael Polley is a Software Test Manager for CDMA devices at Motorola, and has nearly 30 years experience in design, development, implementation, testing, and managing of software projects from the early microprocessor based teleprinters to the latest mobile devices. In his current role, Mr. Polley is responsible for managing and coordinating much of the third-party testing and certification necessary for a successful commercial launch of a mobile device. His goals mirror that of CCF?s ? to develop more effective software validation processes to bring high quality products to market faster.  

HENRY HSIN
Henry Hsin is the Integration and Test Director at VIA Telecom, Inc., and has more than 20 years of industry experience, including over 12 years in wireless handset development, integration, and end-to-end applications testing. Mr. Hsin has been responsible for system-level development and applications testing of CDMA handsets based upon VIA's baseband chipset. Prior to joining VIA Telecom, Mr. Hsin managed the system integration team within the marketing organization of CommQuest, which was later acquired by IBM. In this role, he provided customer support for their GSM and AMPS system solution. Earlier in his career, he was involved with RF testing of CDMA handsets at Nokia Mobile Phones. Mr. Hsin earned his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University and his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Operator Directors

GREG GREEN
Greg Green is currently the Supervisor of the Product Evaluation Group at U.S. Cellular Corporation, and has more than 25 years of industry experience. Prior to his promotion to Supervisor of the Product Evaluation Group, Mr. Green was a Product Evaluation Engineer responsible for device requirements and vendor relations. Before joining U.S. Cellular, he worked for various carriers as a RF Design Engineer and System Performance Engineer. His began his career in the cellular industry with Ameritech Cellular and Paging in Chicago in the Technical Assistance Group, followed by promotion to the engineering department as a System Performance Engineer.  Mr. Green is working on completing his Bachelor of Science in Network Management & Communication from Devry University.

PETER LAI LIWEI
Mr Lai liwei works for China Unicom in the Standards Management Division. His efforts mainly focus on wireless network framework and evolution, device technology and testing procedure. Mr Lai Liwei holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

LOU LAMEDICA
Lou LaMedica is the Director of the Wireless Handset and Device Evaluation and Implementation Laboratory for Verizon Wireless. Responsible for the technical integrity of all devices introduced to the market by Verizon Wireless, Mr. LaMedica leads a team of five Managers and more than 30 Engineers. He has 40 years? experience, including military and civilian, in the telecommunications industry and is an inventor with four issued patents.

Mr. LaMedica has directed the Laboratory since the company?s inception in 2000. Under his leadership, the  state-of-the-art national testing facility in Bedminster, New Jersey, sets standards and ensures the reliability of wireless phones, data equipment and applications by putting the products through the paces of rigorous laboratory and field testing.

Prior to his current position, Mr. LaMedica helped establish the first Handset Testing and Evaluation Laboratory for Nynex Mobile and later for Bell Atlantic Mobile, two of Verizon Wireless? founding companies. Verizon Wireless is known for having the strictest handset testing process in the wireless industry.

SALVATORE TADDEO
Salvatore Taddeo is a member of the TELUS Wireless Terminal Development and Certification Group. Mr. Taddeo brings with him more than 10 years of leadership experience in project management, certification testing and software product development.  

A.G.RAO
A.G. Rao is Chief Technology Officer at TATA Teleservices Ltd., India, with overall responsibility for its network of wireless and wireline services and technologies in India, including responsibility for the selection, acquisition and implementation of technologies and platforms that translate into commercially viable products and services.

Mr. Rao holds a degree and post graduate certification in Electronics Engineering. He has worked in various commercial and technical roles in the wireless industry, particularly in markets outside the U.S. such as in India.

Observer Director

JAMES PERSON
James Person, a 20-year plus veteran of the telecommunications industry, is the Chief Operating Officer of the CDMA Development Group (CDG), an international consortium of companies who have joined together to lead the adoption and evolution of 3G CDMA wireless systems around the world. In this role, Mr. Person has responsibility for CDG?s strategic and technical programs.

Prior to his role with CDG, Mr. Person was Vice President of International Sales at Copper Mountain Networks, a provider of IP-based broadband communications products.
Earlier in his career, he established QUALCOMM?s Southeast Asian office and helped to bring the first CDMA networks to Africa, throughout Asia and into Australia and New Zealand. Later, while based in Europe, he worked with 3G organizations on the continent and continued to promote CDMA technologies.

Mr. Person earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an International Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Additional CCF Team Members

PAUL HAMPTON
Paul Hampton, Director, Product Management at QUALCOMM, serves as Chairman of the CCF Technical Working Group. In this role, he leads the group through the development and publishing of current and future test plans. He is past Chairman of the CCF Certification Working Group.

Prior to joining QUALCOMM?s product management team, Mr. Hampton led strategic product development at BVRP Software and directed quality management at GTRAN Wireless, QWEST Wireless and US WEST NewVector Group, developing industry benchmarked processes used throughout the product lifecycle of cellular terminals.

CLIVE WAN
Clive Wan, CDMA Application Manager for Aeroflex Asia Limited, is Chairman of the CCF Certification Working Group and is involved in both the lab authorization process and monitoring of the certification process, In his current role with Aeroflex, Mr. Wan builds and maintains relationships with key CDMA customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region; keeps his team up to date with the latest CDMA technology and market developments; and trains sales staff on how to maximize CDMA business opportunities.
